BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hires Private Banking Chief for West Coast Markets
Addition of Edgar Murcia Is Part of Strategic National Expansion
BNY Mellon Wealth Management has hired veteran banker Edgar Murcia to manage the company's private banking business for its West Coast markets, covering California, Nevada and the Pacific Northwest.  Murcia, a longtime Los Angeles resident, is based in Los Angeles and will report to Joan Bird, managing director of BNY Mellon Wealth Management's West, Central and Mid-Atlantic private banking groups.

"In the past year, we have made several key hires for a range of positions as we continue expanding client services in this region, and our addition of Edgar and other professionals in the coming months will enable us to strengthen BNY Mellon's national presence."

Since August 2009, the wealth manager has made key hires in business development, portfolio management and banking in its fast-growing West region and elsewhere in the U.S.

Murcia has more than 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, having worked with Citigroup in both Florida and California for over 20 years. In his last position at Citigroup, Murcia was regional manager and credit director for the West U.S. Law Firm Group. Prior to that he was regional manager and senior credit officer for the firm's West U.S. Private Bank, where he directed lending to high net worth clients of SmithBarney.

Murcia, who grew up in Orange County and now resides in Fullerton, earned his bachelor's degree in finance from California State University in Fullerton.
