NEW YORK, September 23, 2009- Doris Meister, a highly regarded industry veteran, has joined BNY Mellon Wealth Management as its regional president for the New York area.

As regional president, Meister will be responsible for sales, portfolio management and private banking in the Tri-State region and will report to Larry Hughes, BNY Mellon's president of U.S. markets. Meister will work closely with the wealth manager's national sales director Tom Hurlbrink, Bill Sappington, head of private banking, and Pat Crowe, managing director of portfolio management in New York.

"Doris brings with her an exceptional record of 30 years in wealth management and financial services," Hughes said. "She also is personally involved in various organization in New York. Her active leadership and professional expertise will be instrumental in helping us expand our presence in the largest wealth management market in the world."

Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Meister held a series of executive positions at such firms as Bernstein Wealth Management, Merrill Lynch, and Fleet Bank's wealth management group. She is a member of the Women's Forum and The Economic Club of New York, and is a board member of the East Hampton Historical Society.

Meister earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Smith College.  She lives in New York  and East Hampton.
