BNY Mellon Wealth Management is continuing to build its sales and portfolio management capacity in the Southeast US; this time with the hiring of two managing directors of sales in Florida and Georgia. Garrett Alton will be based in Atlanta and report to Georgia Chairman Dana Halberg. Timothy Goering will work in the West Palm Beach office and report to Craig Sutherland, President-Southeast U.S.
"Our strategy for growth is based on hiring professionals who can deliver the high level of service and expertise that our clients expect and deserve," Sutherland said. In its most recent survey of clients, BNY Mellon Wealth Management earned a 97% client satisfaction rate, Sutherland added.
In the past four years, BNY Mellon Wealth Management has expanded its work force in Florida significantly and the company plans to add more staff in coming months, Sutherland said. In recent years, BNY Mellon opened two new offices in Florida for a total of seven wealth management locations in the state. Since 2004, BNY Mellon Wealth Management has increased its portfolio of client assets under management more than tenfold, Sutherland said.
The Atlanta office also has experienced growth in the past year reflected in the creation of the role of chairman for the state as well as by internal promotions and new hiring. "With the addition of Garrett in our Atlanta office, we're continuing to build our presence throughout Georgia," Halberg said. "As the population in Atlanta continues to grow exponentially, BNY Mellon has the expertise, resources and client focus to meet the needs of the state's high net worth residents."
Alton has more than 15 years of experience in wealth management. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, he was a senior financial advisor focused on business development for Merrill Lynch in Atlanta. Previously, he had been senior vice president and wealth strategist at GenSpring Family Offices and a senior vice president for wealth management with Neuberger Berman/Lehman Brothers. He earned his Bachelors of Business Administration from Augusta State University in Georgia and lives in Buckhead.
Goering, also an industry veteran, comes to BNY Mellon from Seaside National Bank, where he served as president for nearly two years. Prior to that, Goering was senior vice president with GenSpring Family Offices. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from the United States Naval Academy.
A resident of Jupiter, Florida, Goering is a member of the Planned Giving Council for Place of Hope, Chairman of the Ambassadors of Hope, an Ambassador for the Honda Classic and is on the board of directors for the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce. In addition he has coached soccer in Palm Beach County for the last 8 years.
